Adrift
Created in 2005, the Adrift series was photographed during early summer mornings while staying in a cottage on the North Fork of Long Island. Hayward loaded film—either 35 mm or 6x7 cm—at night, then awoke before dawn and headed straight to the water. With his camera wrapped in simple plastic bags, he waded in. He worked quickly, as the sun would rise over the hills and for a few minutes strike only the crests of waves before casting its full light on the water.
These works are digital pigment prints, printed on Canson rag photographique paper and are accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
